What students see

A consent screen before the first question. They tick a box to start.
A banner on every page. Copy, paste and right click do nothing.
Leave the window once. An amber warning to acknowledge, and the question is skipped.
Leave it twice. A red screen, a countdown, and the attempt is submitted. Back and reload cannot reopen it.
If extensions are blocked in Settings. If an extension is changing the page, the exam does not start. They are told to turn extensions off or use a private window, then reload. If one shows up during the exam, what it added is removed and it counts as leaving the window.

How to export, import, and check it works

In Moodle, Question bank, Export, format Moodle XML.
Drop it here, download the file, then Question bank, Import. Delete the unguarded copies afterwards.
Put one question in a quiz and press Preview. If the consent screen appears, it works.
No consent screen means Moodle removed the script. Ask your administrator for the moodle/site:trustcontent permission on your account.

A deterrent, not a lock. It cannot see a phone on the desk, and disabling JavaScript defeats it. No web page can switch browser extensions off. The extension check only sees extensions that add something to the page. One that quietly reads the page stays invisible. If your school has Safe Exam Browser, use that too.

If you tick "Block browser extensions" in Settings and the preview says an extension was found, turn off your own extensions or use a private window. If it still says so with all extensions off, a Moodle plugin on your site is being mistaken for one. Untick the box for that quiz.
